Team Run grabbed 6th place in the open division out of 31 team at the 37th Annual New Bedford Half Marathon this past Sunday. This improves upon their 10th place effort last month at the Jones 10 Miler in Amherst, MA. Making his Team Run debut, Wesley Ocharo of Kenya was the first man in orange across the line, finishing 8th place overall in an impressive time of 1:08:26 (an average pace of 5:14/mile).
Finishing 2nd and 3rd for Team Run were Marx Running store employees Ethan Brown and Peter Omae. The pair worked together for much of the race before Brown pulled away en route to a 1:11:28 finishing time (36th) while Omae completed the cold and breezy 13.1 mile course in 1:12:59 (57th). Omae led Team Run last month at the Jones 10 Miler with a 31st place finish.
Running 1:14:44 was Ben Coughlin, the Team’s 4th man, who grabbed 79th place overall. Rounding out the Team’s top-5 was Marx Running store employee George Krikorian, who finished in 1:20:48 (190th).
Team Run hopes to continue their improvement in the men’s open team category in two weeks at the An Ras Mor 5k in Cambridge, MA. The prospects look very good as UMass Lowell All-American Jeff Veiga is expected to compete and should be a threat for a top-5 overall finish. US Olympic Nordic Skier and former USATF-NE Grand Prix Individual Champion Justin Freeman is also expected to toe the line.
