Irish Olympian Stephanie Reilly led Team Run at the 2013 Grand Prix season opener with a dominating win at the Jones 10 Miler in Amherst, MA. Reilly completed the hilly, snowy and windy 10-mile course in a time of 58:40. The 2nd place finisher, Helen Dinan of Whirlaway, was over three and a half minutes behind. Reilly also led the Team Run women to the Open Team title. Team Run’s other scorers were Nicole Casey and Lauren Lesniak running 1:04:34 and 1:08:14, respectively. The combined time of the three women held off Whirlaway by just 30 seconds to capture the title. Also competing for the women was Corina Slyvester in a time of 1:14:19.
The men ended up finishing 8th in the Open Team division. They were led by Team Run newcomer Tadesse Girma (54:29) with a 17 place finish. He was followed by Bryant College graduate Ben Coughlin (56:32) in 31st. Team Run’s final three male scorers were Ethan Brown (58:51), Joe Ryan (58:57), and David Metzger (1:00:18). Also competing for Team Run were Titus Mutinda (1:00:40) and David Ndungo (1:01:23).
Team Run heads to the New Bedford Half Marathon next month for stop #2 in the USATF Grand Prix series. The men will look to improve upon their 8th place performance with the addition of Josh Andrews. The women will look to continue their fast start to 2013 led by Stephanie Reilly.
